How to make money selling photos on eBay, part 2

Submitted by admin on Tuesday, 16 December 2008No Comment

Here’s the process:

1: sign up and open CafePress account.

2: On Your Account page look for Recent Create & Buy
Items look for ‘Create a new custom product’ on the left side.

3: at the Customize page click on Prints & Cards.

4: You’ll then see a page with many product options with the
CafePress price on each. Products will include calendars, greeting
cards, mini posters, postcards, stickers and small and large framed
prints, etc.)

These are all the products that you can put your own photo on…
and then you can sell this photo product on eBay. So don’t let
yourself be limited to just a large framed photo. You could create a
range of t-shirts, mugs, mouse mats, posters etc.
Tip: You might want to add your website URL to the photograph.
(See later in this guide).

5: Click on custom large framed print (as an example)

6: This will take you to the Custom Large Framed Print page.
The price you see is what it will cost you to purchase this print.
You will need to sell the print at a price that will cover this cost,
your eBay costs and give you enough profit, so that you can do this
over and over again.

What you are going to do is buy a print from yourself. I know, it
sounds weird, but it works Ok. However you will need to add
(upload) your own images first…
Framed prints are matted and framed in a stylish black frame with
plexiglass cover. Frames include complete backing. Frame size: 19″
x 13″. Image size: 14″ x 10″ centered. Available orientations:
horizontal, vertical. Click on create it.

7: this step will allow you add a new image (explained shortly)
or select one of your saved images.

Note that when you go to order your print you need to add the
quantity which will most likely be just one, unless you have
multiple eBay sales.

Then you can review and order the print (but only do this
after you have had a confirmed sale and payment on eBay!).

8: CafePress will want to know how many (quantity) you want to
purchase. If you sold one on eBay you’ll want to order only one.
Click on Add To Cart.

9: Now you’ll see your shopping cart where CafePress will inform
you of the shipping details and handling costs. The amount here is
the total cost of CafePress printing, framing and shipping the print
out.
Click on Proceed To Checkout.

10: This part is really, really important to get right. Firstly add
your own billing information. Then see the part where it says
Shipping Address?
You want to Ship to a different address (because you want
CafePress to send the print to your buyer - not to your billing
address).

Also see the Check if this is a gift order on the right side?
Make sure you check that…
Important - make sure you send it as a “gift” in the ordering
process or your customer will see how much you paid for the item
because CafePress will include a receipt (invoice) with the item
when it ships unless you state it is a ‘gift’.
Using the Gift Option that means that… You’ll be given the
opportunity to include a gift message and all prices will be
excluded from the shipping invoice.

In the “gift message” just write something like:
Hi (customer’s name),
Thanks so much for your purchase. I really appreciate it. I truly
hope that it looks great on your wall, and that you can tell other
people about me too. :-) You’ve made a wise investment. Please let
me know when you receive this, I like to know the small details.
Thanks so much,
Jack Snaphead
Your website, email and phone number.

Just check you have all your details correct before you confirm theframe_cafepress
payment. Any coupon or promotional codes, import taxes, etc. It
depends on where you are sending the print. There’ll also be some
shipping options. Promotional shipping looks to be the cheapest
option, and then you can pay by credit card.
Sure you can work out where to go after this stage… I think you’re
pretty much done. Good work. :-)

Isn’t it great? You order the item you’ve sold through your own
account and have it ‘drop-shipped’ to your customer without ever
touching the product! Perfect! :-)
Hey, we’re not finished yet…
