How to make money selling photos on eBay, part 4
You’ll want to, at some stage, set up your About Me page.
To create my eBay listings I use Auctiva. (It’s easy. Just go to
http://auctiva.com to sign up for free).
The best ways to learn about eBay is by reading all you can on the
subject. eBay also has a great help guide, and it isn’t as complicated
as you might think. Look for the online tutorial at eBay’s learning
centre (http://pages.ebay.com/education/).
You really need to experiment a little with eBay first time and also
it’s important to grow your feedback. Feedback is eBay’s trust
mechanism. eBay is relatively inexpensive to run a listing
(auction) so get in there and play around and learn the ropes…
Look at what is selling:
One of the best ways to see what is selling in order to check your
own ‘likelihood of selling’ and learn what the successful sellers do,
is by checking out the completed listings on eBay.
You can check out what prices seem reasonable, how many bids an
item got, what topics are popular, how the photographer or seller
wrote their listing (sales letter) and titles, etc.
Many people will have been selling photos already on eBay. But
this is how you check for successful listings. Type your product in
the ‘enter keyword’ field and search ‘all eBay categories.’
Note: you’ll have to be signed in to eBay to do this. After you’ve
signed in, look at the left column under ‘Search Options.’ Tick
completed listings and choose your own price range if you want.
Then click on ’show items:’
What you’re looking for is items that have sold. Prices of items that
sold are green, those that currently did not sell are red.
Your aim is to get a feel for what is selling, get some pricing
guidelines, and check out the amount of bidding activity. That will
help determine the level of interest in your own products.
The completed items list is a very valuable way to gauge the value
and sale probability of your photography.
Take note of any listings that attract you. What you’ll want to do is
emulate (not copy word for word) how they created their listings.
Gather your ideas, but make sure you experiment. Don’t be afraid
to go for it. Like I said, eBay has a great help guide.
To sell digital products eBay requires instant payment which
means you’ll need to get a Paypal account (free). It’s a good idea
to get a business account.
