Isn’t it time to stop using so much paper?

Submitted by admin on Saturday, 21 June 2008No Comment

I was looking for some smartphone & communicator reviews and stumbled across this:

The Tytn 2 is an impressive smartphone, but switch your attention from it to the package… How much paper did he get out of that box?

I never keep the piles of wood that come with a laptop, phone or other device. When & if I need to read them, I head to the manufacturer’s website and find the electronic versions.  Same goes for CD’s with drivers & applications, I get the latest versions online.

Everyone has internet access, so why not stop wasting money and resources for these useless things?

Instead of those papers, they could put a card or something with a login/password to access my personal account on their website and see the status of the warranty, download drivers and read the user manuals. The account could be activated when I first login and enter my personal details, so that no one else would use it. It’s very easy to do.

Even Bank of America stopped sending me mail and switched to an all-electronic version.
