Want a better-looking Web-based Email Client?

Submitted by admin on Sunday, 7 December 2008No Comment

My server comes with Horde pre-installed. I’m not usually bothered by how a program looks, as long as it works fine, but the standard horde skin just depresses me. And I don’t even wanna talk about how it doesn’t move the deleted emails to trash (maybe there’s an option in the settings, should take a look).

Anyway, there’s a much better alternative to the standard Horde skin: WPS Sober, which you can get here.

I couldn’t find any install instructions on their site, so here’s a link to a forum that has them.

Another looks-related problem I had was with our company’s management software integrated email client. It was just awful.

The solution: a beautiful AJAXified email client called RoundCube . It’s so beautiful, I now use it exclusively. I thought there would be security issues, but apparently you can install it on a HTTPS domain and use IMAPS & Secure SMTP with it, so everything’s encrypted.

There were a few problems integrating it with our scripts, but now it works nicely with this theme:

RoundCube MVision Clean Code Theme

If you do use this theme, give the developers a donation or somehow contribute, they deserve it.
